Black British History: 78 Years of Music and Struggle (1948-2026)
In this fascinating multimedia presentation, Robin Walker ‘The Black History Man’, will recount the last seventy-eight years of modern Black British history.
The session is a workshop and a fun interactive team quiz! Using archival film footage, photographs, blue plaques, etcetera, the lecture will cover the following eventful themes:
· The political and civil rights struggles that enabled Black Britons to gain acceptance in Mainstream British Culture
· How Black British Music evolved from Calypso to Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Lovers Rock, British Soul, Jungle, UK Garage, and Grime
· How Black Britain influenced the culture and lifestyles of the Host Communities
