Arcadian Strings – Winter ConcertJoin Arcadian Strings for a programme of vibrant and atmospheric music for strings, featuring Vivaldi’s much-loved Four Seasons.
Arcadian Strings is a 21-piece string orchestra made up of local musicians from across the Harrogate area. Conducted by William Dutton, the orchestra will be joined by violin soloist Ljuba Kalmykova for Vivaldi’s Winter and Spring from The Four Seasons – from the icy drama and driving rhythms of Winter to the warmth and energy of Spring.
The programme also explores the remarkable range of sound and character that a string orchestra can create. Bartók’s lively Folk Dances sit alongside the rich, expressive writing of Frank Bridge and John Ireland, while Britten’s Playful Pizzicato from his Simple Symphony brings wit, energy and a touch of fun.
Programme:
Bartók – Folk Dances
Vivaldi – The Four Seasons: Winter and Spring
Bridge – Suite for String Orchestra, First Movement
Ireland – Downland Suite
Britten – Playful Pizzicato from Simple Symphony
William Dutton – Conductor
Ljuba Kalmykova – Violin
Whether you already love classical music or simply fancy an evening of beautiful live music played by local musicians, we’d love you to join us.
