Join us for the 2026 Birmingham Commonwealth Society Annual Debate Competition, where university debating teams from across Birmingham compete on topics linked to the Commonwealth. The University of Birmingham is the defending champion after last year's thrilling victory over Birmingham City University.
This year, new teams from Aston University and Newman University join the competition. If you are a student at one of these universities, come and support your team, be informed by competing ideas, and enjoy the student camaraderie along with some light refreshments.
The audience will also have the exciting opportunity to participate by posing questions to the teams based on their arguments. Tickets are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis, so don’t delay!
We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of spirited debate and community spirit!
