Join us for a bird walk at Massapequa Preserve where we will look for songbirds, wading birds, raptors, and waterfowl like the Wood Duck in the photo by Bill Belford. Bird walks led by a member of SSAS are held nearly every week, either Saturday or Sunday morning from late August through early June. Walks are open to the public and free of charge. We especially encourage youngsters to attend.
There is no walk if it rains.
Register by texting that you would like to join the bird walk to Joe Landesberg at 516-467-9498. Include your name and a contact number to text should there be a need to cancel.
Directions: From Sunrise Highway, turn north onto Broadway, Massapequa. Travel under the Long Island Rail Road overpass, then make the first right onto Veterans Boulevard (headed east). Go past the Massapequa train station and into the parking lot at the east end of the station. The preserve is directly east of the parking lot.
