About this Event
Join Canadian wildlife photographer Jared VanderMeer for an intimate evening dedicated to the art of bird photography editing at the Jared VanderMeer Gallery & Studio in Sidney, British Columbia.
This hands-on workshop is designed for bird photographers of all skill levels who want to improve their editing workflow, better understand camera settings, and create stronger wildlife images. Each session focuses on practical techniques that you can immediately apply to your own photography while enjoying an evening of discussion with fellow bird photographers.
Throughout the evening, Jared will walk through his complete editing process using real bird photographs, explaining the decisions behind each adjustment—from selecting the strongest image to processing RAW files, enhancing colour, reducing noise, sharpening feather detail, and preparing photographs for print and social media.
Along the way, the conversation naturally expands beyond editing. We'll discuss camera settings, autofocus techniques, bird behaviour, field experiences, recent sightings, photography gear, and answer questions from attendees in an open, relaxed setting.
Whether you're photographing backyard birds, birds in flight, or planning your next birding adventure, you'll leave with new editing techniques, practical field tips, and inspiration for your next outing.
