Minnippi BioBlitz – BioBlitz October

Thanks to a Transurban Community Grant, B4C is running BioBlitz October – a series of six community events exploring and recording biodiversity across the local area.
For the Minnippi BioBlitz, B4C is partnering with the Queensland Naturalists’ Club to explore Minnippi Parklands and discover the incredible variety of plants, animals, insects, fungi and other species that call this special part of the Bulimba Creek catchment home.
We will also be joined by BugsEd, who will help introduce families and young budding scientists to the fascinating world of insects and other invertebrates.
What is a BioBlitz?
A BioBlitz is a citizen science event where people work together to find, photograph and record as many species as possible within a particular area.
During the morning, participants will explore Minnippi Parklands and record the wonderful, colourful, not-so-colourful and sometimes downright weird species they discover.
Observations will be recorded using the iNaturalist app, helping to build a snapshot of biodiversity at Minnippi Parklands.
New to iNaturalist?
No experience is necessary. iNaturalist is a user-friendly app that allows you to photograph and record species you find.
We kindly ask participants to create a free iNaturalist account and download the app before attending the BioBlitz.

Please wear comfortable closed-in shoes and sun-safe clothing, and bring a hat, water bottle and mobile phone with the iNaturalist app installed.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
