About this Event
Join us for the inaugural BIMinNZ Tauranga event as we bring together professionals from across the Bay of Plenty's built environment sector to explore the opportunities and challenges shaping digital delivery in our region.
This launch event marks the beginning of a new local community dedicated to advancing digital engineering, information management, BIM, GIS, reality capture, digital twins, and asset management practices across the infrastructure, construction, and property sectors.
Hear from industry leaders and practitioners as they share real-world experiences, lessons learned, and innovative approaches to delivering better outcomes through digital transformation. Whether you're an experienced BIM professional, project manager, asset owner, consultant, contractor, or simply curious about the future of digital delivery, this event offers an excellent opportunity to learn, connect, and contribute.
Our Lineup
KiwiRail - Leveraging MLS for Asset Information Uplift | Aydin Partridge-Long
Aydin Partridge-Long, Product Owner (CSPO) at KiwiRail, will share how KiwiRail is laying the foundations for a future digital twin of New Zealand's rail network. Using Mobile Laser Scanning (MLS) technology mounted on rolling stock, KiwiRail is capturing corridor-wide asset data to create a digital representation of the network, helping identify existing and missing assets while improving asset visibility. This initiative is a key step toward ensuring the organisation's information needs are met through accurate, comprehensive, and reliable asset data.
Engenera - Right-Sized Digital Engineering – Big Project Thinking for Smaller Projects | Johan Krafft
Johan will explore how Digital Engineering and BIM principles can be effectively applied to smaller infrastructure projects without creating unnecessary complexity or overhead. Using practical project examples, he will look at how information management, model coordination, common data environments, and asset information can be scaled to suit the needs of the project. The presentation will challenge the idea that Digital Engineering is only valuable on large or complex projects.
LT McGuinness – Te Manawataki O Te Papa | Angello Alvarez
Angello Alvarez is a skilled BIM Manager at LT McGuinness and a Mechanical Engineer. In this presentation, Angello will share practical insights into using BIM to support construction from modelling-first approaches and early design checks through to services coordination, off-site fabrication, seismic coordination, reflected ceiling coordination, point layouts and digital tools used on site. He will highlight and explore how coordinated, constructible models can help teams identify issues earlier, improve collaboration and ultimately make projects easier to build. His philosophy is simple: BIM should not just look good on a screen it needs to work when you build it.
Come along to meet like-minded professionals, expand your network, and help shape the future of BIM and digital delivery in Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty region.
