France and Israel join forces to advance precision psychiatry and mental health innovation
The French Embassy in Israel, in collaboration with the Institut français de Tel Aviv, Expertise France, Business France, the FondaMental Foundation, the France–Israel Foundation and Clalit Health Services, will convene a bilateral scientific symposium on 4 November 2026, dedicated to innovation in precision psychiatry and mental health.
Mental health has become one of the major global public health challenges of our time. The biological and clinical diversity of patients, limitations in diagnosis and treatment, and the gap between scientific research and its application in clinical practice call for new, more personalized approaches.
The symposium will focus on promising developments in precision psychiatry, including biomarkers, patient stratification, neuroscience, neuro-imaging, innovative therapies, digital tools and artificial intelligence.
Bringing French and Israeli expertise together
France and Israel both benefit from dynamic scientific, medical and technological ecosystems in the field of mental health. The symposium aims to bring these complementary strengths together and foster new collaborations between research institutions, clinicians and industry.
In France, precision psychiatry is a national priority within the France 2030 investment plan, notably through the PEPR PROPSY research programme. In Israel, research into mental health, trauma and resilience has gained particular importance in recent years, strengthening expertise and innovation in these fields.
More than twenty French and Israeli experts will participate in the symposium, including Professor Marion Leboyer, Professor of Psychiatry at Université Paris-Est Créteil and CEO of Fondation FondaMental; Professor Laurent Groc, CNRS Research Director; Professor Mircea Polosan, Head of Adult Psychiatry at Grenoble Alpes University Hospital; and Professor David Klatzmann, Professor of Immunology at Sorbonne University and Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital.
They will meet with leading Israeli experts including Professor Amir Krivoy of Clalit Health Services, Professor Michal Schwartz of the Weizmann Institute of Science, and Professor Mark Weiser of Sheba Medical Center.
From scientific dialogue to lasting cooperation
Beyond the exchange of scientific knowledge, the symposium seeks to identify concrete opportunities for long-term cooperation in research, innovation and industry, with the ambition of accelerating the development of new diagnostic tools and treatments for mental health.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of France in Israel, the French Institute of Tel Aviv, Expertise France, Fondation FondaMental, the France-Israel Foundation and Clalit Health Services.
