About this Event
A practical basic bike maintenance group session designed to help participants keep their bikes safe, reliable and roadworthy. Learn how to carry out simple safety checks and essential repairs, giving you greater confidence to look after your own bike.
Please be aware that only basic maintenance tasks can be covered during this session. If your bike requires more extensive work, our instructors will provide recommendations on what to ask for at a local bike repair shop. If you are unsure whether your bike issue can be covered, please get in touch with us before the event to check.
Alongside learning to ride, participants will receive a FREE goodie bag on completion of the session, including bike maintenance essentials, lights and a voucher for 50% off the price of a refurbished bike from The Community Furniture Project.
There are 8 spaces available for this session, so we recommend signing up early if you wish to attend.
Who is this session for?
This session is open to anyone who is interested in learning to maintain their bike.
Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
On the day
· Please arrive 10–15 minutes before the session starts to allow time for registration and bike setup.
· Water and snacks will be provided but feel free to bring your own.
· This event will run regardless of the weather, as both indoor and outdoor spaces are available for us to use.
We will be in touch in the week leading up to the event to confirm details for the day.
About this project
Ready to Ride is a project designed to get more people in Basingstoke and Deane cycling more in their day-to-day life. Until late 2027 we'll be running a range of events and activities, including learn to ride, cycle confidence, and bike maintenance sessions, plus advice to help you develop the skills and confidence to dust off an old bike or pick one up.
