The Big Muddy Monster Festival returns to historic downtown Murphysboro on June 20th, taking over 13th & Walnut Street for a full day immersed in storytelling, folklore, and Southern Illinois legend. The day is rooted in the infamous Big Muddy Monster sightings and the region’s deep well of cryptid lore. 13th Street will be closed for an open-air cryptid market with Food Truck Row just across Walnut Street, as well as downtown eateries offering cryptid themed items.
Programming throughout the day will include speakers and storytelling at the historic Liberty Theater, along with a 13th Street Shop Hop highlighting downtown Murphysboro businesses joining in on the celebration.
