Your fearless trip commander has successfully managed to navigate river crossings, bush tracks and questionable lines… but apparently couldn’t navigate his own bloody calendar.
I’ve just discovered that our original November weekend clashes with my nephew’s wedding in Nowra on Saturday 14 November.
And apparently turning up to the wedding in the Wombat, covered in mud and asking whether they can move the ceremony to Sofala isn’t considered an acceptable solution.
So… the Turon trip is moving.

But here’s the good news.
We’re not simply moving the trip.
We’re UPGRADING IT.

This is now our BIG HURRAH FOR 2026 — one last proper Outta Here weekend before Christmas madness takes over.
We’ll still have the good stuff:
🏕️ Riverside camping on the Turon
💦 River crossings and 4WD tracks
⛏️ Gold country, Sofala, Hill End and the Bridle Track
🎣 Fishing and exploring
🍺 Country pubs, pub grub and a few responsible refreshments
🔥 Campfires, laughs and plenty of questionable stories
BUT Saturday night is going full Christmas.
We’re talking Christmas tree, decorations, lights, music and a Best Christmas Fancy Dress competition — and I fully expect some spectacularly poor judgement.
Santa in a GU Patrol?
An elf driving a 79?
Mrs Claus with a winch controller?
Nothing is off the table.
And this one is absolutely about the whole Outta Here community.
Bring your mates. Bring your family. Bring the kids. Bring the dog. Bring the Christmas lights. Bring the ridiculous outfit. Most importantly… bring the joy.
Whether you’ve been on every trip this year or haven’t managed to make one yet, this is the one to finish 2026 together.

But somehow I reckon this particular cock-up may have created something even better.
