About this Event
To encourage interest in battlefield heritage, the Battlefields Trust and its partner organisations are arranging a series of battlefield walks in September 2026. Come and join the Battlefields Trust to explore one of the three battles of 1066 which saw the Viking invaders defeat an Anglo Saxon army, forcing King Harold to journey north and leave Englandβs southern shores vulnerable to Norman invasion.
Chas Jones will lead a walk of the least famous of the battles of the 1066 campaign
Meet at the Fulford playing field, opposite Fulford Cemetery (YO19 4QG). There is plenty of on-road car parking plus there is a P&R bus stop (Silver Line) at Germany Beck, right beside the playing field. Walking boots recommended. Walk is mostly on good paths and covers 3km, lasting about 2 hours.
Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or carer
Tickets are free but limited to 30 people.
If you enjoy the walk and would like to make a small donation to help the work of the Battlefields Trust, feel free to do so. Alternatively, why not join the Battlefields Trust and help our work to promote battlefield heritage. Please visit https://www.battlefieldstrust.com where you can find out so much more!
