Bi+ Visibility History and Background
In 1999, three bi+ activists got together and saw the need for a specific day to celebrate and centre the bi+ community. When trying to pick a date, the founders settled on a date in September as it was the birth month of bisexual icon Freddie Mercury.
We celebrate the day on September 23 as well as Bisexual Awareness Week from September 16-23 to acknowledge the contributions made by bi+ folks and to reiterate that bisexual people exist and have always existed!

This party is 19+ and is open to all those who ID under the bi+ umbrella and our pals. Who is welcome? Anyone! We aim to provide a safer space that centers bi+ folks and gives them a chance to connect/validate/celebrate. Allies/accomplices/anyone who wants to be in community with bi+ folks are also welcome.

The space and accessibility
The Ottawa Bike Cafe is a physically accessible space with lots of room, high ceilings, a powerful HVAC system and a sweet patio. The cafe serves a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages alongside alcoholic drinks and food. Please enjoy snacks and beverages on the patio rather than inside.
Masks: KN94 or better masks are required indoors and optional outdoors. N95s (overhead straps) will be available at the door for free. The staff have been asked to mask and may be wearing surgical masks but will be offered KN94-N95s (TBD).
Air: Two air purifiers and the powerful HVAC system will be running all night.
Space: The front door and entire space are on one level and conform to all accessibility requirements of the AODA and the Ontario Building Code. The front door has an automatic opener, as does the large and accessible bathroom.
Audio/visual: There won't be any flashing lights during the evening. Expect fairly loud dance music inside, and the same music at a lower decibel on the patio.

How much should I pay?
If comfortable, please pay on the higher end of the ticket price scale. By doing so, you're supporting others who can't pay as much. Choose the amount that makes sense for you!
