A&R presents: BEYOND THE SINGLES: Kanye West’s _Graduation_. SPIN 006. He went from soul samples and polos to synths, stadium-sized ambition and Murakami. By 2007, Kanye wasn’t just graduating. He was expanding the whole universe.
We’re playing _Graduation_ front to back on vinyl and unpacking the writing, production, samples, lore and legacy behind one of the defining hip-hop albums of the 2000s.
We’re taking over Aloha Sushi Bar, an Asian fusion restaurant + bar, a fitting setting for an era whose visual world was heavily shaped by Japanese art and Takashi Murakami.
Co-hosted by Jordan Tuck + Anthony Duncan, two music heads ready to unpack the bars, production, lore and legacy of Graduation.
