About this Event
Accessibility isn’t just a checklist. It’s a way of seeing the world. Join the Inclusive Architecture Organization (IAO) at the University of Toronto for an evening conversation with four professionals who shape how our buildings and spaces work for everyone.
Our panelists will share how they found their way into accessibility, the projects they’re proudest of, what a typical week really looks like, and the everyday designs that quietly get it right. We’ll also dig into the misconceptions about their roles, and how building codes and design thinking work together (and sometimes push against each other).
Meet the panelists
- Aaron Cheng, Partner at C&partners, a healthcare focused architecture firm
- Haley Rae Lawson, Senior Accessibility Specialist at BDP (HumanSpace)
- Allie Gilks, Practice Lead at LMDG, specializing in accessibility and code compliance
- Luke Anderson, Executive Director at StopGap Foundation
What to expect
- A moderated conversation with personal stories and practical insights
- A look at how accessibility shows up across healthcare, consulting, code compliance, and community advocacy
- Live audience Q&A
- Time to network with the panelists and fellow attendees after the event
Open to students, faculty, and anyone curious about accessible design. No background required.
