Rooted in the exhibition Beyond Papers, People by artist Claudia Maysen (on view at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center through Nov. 14), Sandra Avalos, Iris Bechtol, Jessica Fuentes, and Claudia Maysen come together to explore how immigrants are defined and represented, who gets to tell their stories, and how art and storytelling can challenge stereotypes, affirm humanity, and foster belonging, while also questioning the responsibilities of representation and what it means to be seen on one’s own terms.
