Beyond Innocence* is a joint project between two long-established venues and cultural projects in Berlin: ausland and Theater Thikwa. At the heart of the project is the artistic collaboration between professional musicians from Berlin's improvisation scene and a group of actors with and without disabilities. Over nine monthly workshops led by experienced protagonists from Berlin's renowned independent scene, a collective working process takes place, culminating in a joint concert in June 2026. This radically inclusive project questions concepts of talent, musicality and normality. Against the backdrop of the utopia of a society shaped jointly and equally by all people, Beyond Innocence* is intended to be the starting point for long-term collaboration between the participating artists.
- Theater Thikwa -
The history of Thikwa began in 1993 with the founding of the Thikwa e.V. association, which was established with the aim of promoting collaborative, professional artistic work between people with disabilities and non-disabled artists. The Thikwa workshop, where 44 people with disabilities now work, is a centre of excellence for diverse art with a wide-reaching influence.
