Fortnum’s Food & Drink Studio welcomes you to the next instalment of its monthly series exploring time‑honoured beverage rituals. On 31st May, we turn our focus to Turkish coffee – a centuries‑old tradition where hospitality and storytelling are poured into every cup.
Deeply woven into daily life across Turkey and beyond, Turkish coffee is more than a drink; it is a ritual of patience, conversation and connection. From the precise grind to the slow, attentive brew, each step reflects a culture that values presence and shared moments. In this session, we’ll explore how this ancient practice has endured, and why its unhurried rhythms continue to resonate today.
The evening will be led by İley from Ozerlat, who will guide guests through the rich world of Turkish coffee. Together, you will delve into its history, grind coffee by hand, and learn how it is traditionally brewed.
No Turkish coffee experience would be complete without a touch of mysticism. Guests will be invited to explore the longstanding tradition of fortune‑telling with the leftover grounds, reading one another’s cups and discovering the stories said to lie within.
As part of the experience, guests will leave with their choice of Turkish coffee as a gift — a lasting invitation to continue the ritual at home.
