Today, both cities face a new set of overlapping challenges: a changing climate, energy transition, inequality, housing pressure and the need to strengthen trust in public life. As part of Urban October, UN-Habitat’s global campaign on sustainable urbanisation that culminates in World Cities Day on 31 October, we invite you to a transatlantic conversation.
We will look at what the two cities have in common: a shared history of reconstruction, similar continental climates and many shared denominators. We will share knowledge about what these experiences taught us, and discuss how the two cities can work together on solutions that help them adapt to climate change and respond to crises that never arrive one at a time.
