About this Event
Anglo-Saxon healers used plants and charms to treat everyday ailments. Some remedies were wrote down in Leechbooks, but some you may still recognise today!
Meet Alfgred, a highly reputable doctor and surgeon known for her skills in treating battlefield injuries. Long before the days of plasters, anaesthetic and antibiotics, hear about about the bizarre ideas the Anglo Saxons had about illness and how to cure it.
Witness a simulated demonstration of Alfgred attempting to save a badly injured warrior.
Feel free to ask about your ailments and don't be embarrassed if your stomach pains are getting worse... everyone had worms in the early medieval period!
Doors 6.45pm.
Tickets are free to book, but there will be £3 cash charge on the door.
