The Berkshire Bach Society (BBS) and the Tanglewood Learning Institute present BBS Portals: THE SAVIOR, a performance, book reading, and conversation with author, violinist, and BBS Artistic Director, Eugene Drucker on November 7, 3pm, at the Linde Center for Music and Learning at Tanglewood (Lenox/Stockbridge). THE SAVIOR is a character study of a young violinist in Nazi Germany who is ordered to play for prisoners in a concentration camp. He struggles with his own moral compass as he sees first-hand what the camps are about and is devastated by the realization of his own complicity. The work evokes Bach’s music throughout, providing an opportunity for us to hear a live performance of the great Chaconne from the Partita No. 2 in D minor—a work that touches the sublime, played by a master who has lived with it his entire life. Join us to engage in an important conversation about the
indispensability and limitations of art as a transformative human experience.
BBS PORTALS is a quarterly series that looks at how the music of J.S. Bach has influenced artists across disciplines and over the centuries.
