About this Event
Gustavo Figueiredo Trio feat. Emily Braden
Samba, jazz & the sounds of Brazil.
Brazilian pianist Gustavo Figueiredo makes his New York debut in a performance celebrating the power, sophistication, and creative freedom of Brazilian music. Joined by acclaimed musicians Rogerio Boccato on drums and Gili Lopes on bass, Figueiredo leads a trio devoted to exploring the dialogue between samba, jazz, and the diverse sounds that have shaped Brazil’s musical landscape.
The repertoire features works by some of Brazil’s most influential composers, including Antônio Carlos Jobim, Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Dominguinhos, Toninho Horta, and Milton Nascimento, alongside original compositions by Figueiredo.
The evening will also feature a special appearance by powerhouse vocalist Emily Braden, whose presence brings new colors and dimensions to the repertoire. A winner of Jazzmobile’s “Best of the Best” Vocal Competition in New York and a two-time cultural ambassador through the U.S. Embassy’s Arts Envoy program, Braden is an imposing and magnetic presence on stages around the world.
