The walk will start at Dalrigh and head up through the natural pine and birch forest in Coille Coire Chuick and Alt Coire Dubhcraig, passing several waterfalls and cascades on the way. The route then follows the path up the middle of Coire Dubchraig with a steep ascent of the grassy headwall of the coire onto the shoulder of Beinn Dubhchraiger, followed by a 500m walk to the summit. The summit provides fine views of the surrounding hills and a superb view south down Loch Lomond. The return route (~2 km pathless) will be via the north ridge to Coninish Farm, then along a farm track back to Dalrigh.
There are two long (~700 m), steep sections, one on the ascent and the other on the descent. The lower approach, through the woodland, is boggy in parts; otherwise, walking is mainly on grass and some stoney/rocky surfaces. The farm track is metalled.
Sturdy, waterproof boots and waterproof clothing are essential. Walking poles are recommended.
