The Meaning Behind the Mask
For many, abuse exists behind a carefully crafted mask.
Those who abuse often present a version of themselves the world would never question—kind, respected, and composed—while behind closed doors, their actions tell a very different story. At the same time, survivors often wear masks of their own, hiding fear, pain, uncertainty, and trauma behind forced smiles, quiet resilience, and the hope that no one will notice what they are enduring.
Behind the Mask represents both realities. It shines a light on what so often goes unseen while honoring the extraordinary courage it takes for survivors to remove the mask, seek safety, reclaim their voice, and begin the journey toward healing.
