Behind the First Feature: The Making of Tight Lettuce
You’ve made a few short films. Maybe played some festivals, won some awards. Now you’re thinking about your first feature—but you’re still trying to understand how the whole process comes together.
Join Filmmaker Mastermind for a guided Q&A with filmmakers Harrison Houde and Dakota Daulby about the making of their feature film, Tight Lettuce.
We’ll use their experience to walk through the journey from idea to release: developing the concept, writing the script, finding financing, getting into production, finishing the film, and getting it out into the world.
The goal is to leave with a better understanding of what it takes to make a feature, including the decisions, challenges, and lessons that happen along the way.
What we’ll talk about
- Where the idea came from and how it became a feature script.
- How they approached financing and getting the project off the ground.
- Planning production, building a crew, and getting the film shot.
- What happened after the cameras stopped rolling—from editing through finishing.
- How they approached release and what they learned from the process.
- What they would do differently and what other filmmakers can learn from their experience.
Hosted by Tariq Ebrahim and Malik McCrea, this conversation is for filmmakers who want to understand the bigger picture—especially those who have made shorts and are ready to explore their first feature.
