About this Event
Behind Closed Doors is a youth-centered healthy relationships and self-awareness experience created by I RISE Transitional Youth & Development Center, Inc. for youth and young adults ages 16–24+.
This interactive event is designed to create space for real conversations around healthy and unhealthy relationships, boundaries, red flags, domestic violence prevention, mental and emotional wellness, safety, support, and knowing when and where to ask for help.
Participants will hear from community panelists bringing perspectives in advocacy, lived experience, healthy relationships, self-worth, emotional wellness, mental health, safety, and support. The conversation will also include real-life scenarios and opportunities for participants to submit anonymous questions to the panel.
A signature part of the experience is What Does Your House Look Like?, an interactive reflection activity that uses different parts of a house to help participants think about their own lives in a practical way.
Participants will also receive a Behind Closed Doors reflection booklet with guided reflection prompts to help them process what stood out, what they learned about themselves and relationships, what safety means to them, and what they may want to change moving forward.
This is not a lecture and no one will be required to share personal experiences publicly. The goal is to create a space where youth and young adults can listen, reflect, ask questions, learn from different perspectives, and leave with practical tools and resources they can use beyond the event.
Know the signs. Know your boundaries. Know where to turn.
Real situations. Real choices. Real support.
