About this Event
What if challenging behaviour is not the problem, but a message?
For many children, the school day brings challenges that can feel difficult to manage: making mistakes, receiving correction, hearing “no”, navigating friendships, sensory overload, bullying, fatigue or trying to hold everything together until they get home.
When behaviour escalates in the classroom, playground or at home after school, it is rarely out of nowhere. It may be communicating that part of life feels challenging and the child does not yet have the skills to manage it.
Behaviour as Communication in Schools is a practical four-hour workshop that helps adults look beyond the behaviour, understand the “why” behind it and respond with greater clarity, confidence and consistency.
What you’ll gain:
- A clear framework for understanding behaviour as communication
- Insight into hidden causes such as anxiety, perfectionism, social stress, fatigue and sensory overload
- Practical strategies for preventing and responding to escalation
- Tools that support skill-building over time
- A shared approach for creating consistency between school and home
Who is this workshop for?
- Teachers, teacher aides and learning support staff
- School leadership and wellbeing teams
- Parents, carers and extended family
- Allied health professionals and external support teams
- Anyone supporting children from early years through to senior schooling
