About this Event
Discover the secrets of the sky in a fascinating interactive talk, in our warm and friendly visitor centre, then head outside to see the stars for yourself.
You’ll be shown how to use specialised telescopes and viewing equipment. Potteric Carr is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest with minimal light pollution for the best chance of seeing some amazing sights. Dependent on seasons and weather you’ll have the chance to observe the Moon, planets, sparkling star clusters or even distant galaxies!
Experts will be on hand to tell you more about the constallations you see, answer any questions you may have and give helpful tips and tricks for using telescopes, speacialised apps and getting good photographs of the night sky.
You'll be just a few steps from our visitor centre so you can pop back in at any point for a hot drink to keep you warm throughout the night!

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Weather conditions may effect visability, under dangerous conditions this event will be rearranged but otherwise we will go ahead with the evening.

Accessibility and terrain
Much of Potteric Carr is accessible for standard wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are other paths that are more rugged that go round the Discovery Zone and Beeston Plantation.
What to bring
You may want to bring a torch to hep you find your way around the reserve at night.
Sturdy footwear and warm layered clothing is strongly advised.
Toilets and catering
Facilities on site include toilets (including accessible toilet and baby changing facilities) and café in the visitor centre.

Meet at the entrance to the nature reserve. In the Nature Discovery Centre.

Parking
Car park off Mallard Way, open 9.30am to 5pm. For this out of hours event the car park will be open and avalible to use.

Cancellation and refunds
In the situation that Yorkshire Wildlife Trust needs to cancel an event we will be in touch regarding your booking via email and our Supporter Services team will process the refund of your tickets as soon as possible. Please allow up to 5 working days for this to happen. If you, or members of your party, are unable to attend your booked event, you are eligible for a refund up to 7 days before the event date.
