If you enjoyed Pt 1 of our Beginners Sewing Class and are keen to progress your skills further and develop your confidence, come along to Pt 2 and learn how to make a tote bag with internal and external pockets. During these sessions we will continue to look at basic sewing methods and explore useful skills like topstitching and adding pockets. This class runs over 2 weeks. If you haven't done Pt 1 but can use the basic functions of your machine, please come along!You will learn:
To perfect your top stitching
How to join pieces from a sewing pattern to create pockets
How to use a rotary cutter
What's included?
Instructions to create your tote bag
What you need to bring:
1 meter medium weight cotton fabric to make your project (you could use cotton canvas or denim)
Matching thread with which to sew your project
A sewing kit including fabric scissors or rotary cutter, a quick unpick, pins, tailors chalk or fabric pen, tape measure or ruler, spare needles for your sewing machine. Kit is available to borrow if you don't have your own.
A sewing machine (if you don't have one you can choose to hire one from us for £10)
£60. This course runs for 2 weeks, on Tues 26th Jan and 2nd February 2027, from 6.45 - 9pm at Saint Wilfrids Community Centre, Coltsgate Hill, Ripon HG4 2AB.
