What to Expect
Our session is designed to be hands-on and stress-free. We'll guide you through every step of the journey:
The Negative Selection: We'll begin by looking through your black and white negatives to find the image you want to print. You don't need any prior printing knowledge - we will help you select an image to translate onto paper.
The Darkroom Experience: We'll head under the red lights to demystify the silver gelatin printing process. You'll learn how to operate an enlarger, create test strips to find your exposure, and use the chemical baths to watch your image magically appear.
Personalised Learning: With just two people to the session, you'll receive plenty of one-to-one guidance and support throughout the session.
Take Home Your Work: At the end of the session, you'll leave with your own hand-exposed, finished physical prints.
Who is this for: This workshop is perfect for absolute beginners, anyone who has previously attended our Film Development Experience, or those looking for a friendly taster of traditional darkroom magic. We focus on the joy of creating rather than confusing technical jargon.
Suitable for: Adults and young people aged 16+
This session is in our upstairs space. We have a lift! Otherwise it is fourteen steps turn a corner and two more steps. There is an accessible loo on the same floor.
GETTING HERE
- Tram & Train to Blackpool North Station
- Bus: No 6 or 18 to Topping St., No 3, 3a, 5c, 6, 18 to Church St (Stanley Buildings), No 5, 5a, 5b, 6, 7a, 14 to Talbot Rd
- Driving: The closest pay and display car parks are on East Topping St and Talbot Road multi storey. There is also parking at the nearby Sainsbury’s supermarket, please make sure that you check the terms before you use the car park.

- Orders can be refunded up to 7 days before the event.
