About this Event
A small workshop (six people maximum) for those who are beginning to play an acoustic instrument (usually guitar, double bass, banjo or ukulele) and want to start to play with others and improve their knowledge of playing music.
The 1.5-hour long workshop looks at key areas such as technique, approaches to learning songs, ear-training, developing a sense of rhythm. The focus is on learning through playing with others in a comfortable learning-led environment where everyone is free to ask questions and share experiences.
This workshop is intended for those discovering the joy of learning to play an instrument, and is led by Wes Stanton - well-known as double bass player with The Folly Brothers, and who also teaches guitar, clawhammer banjo, ukulele and upright bass from his home in Leamington Spa.
Whether it’s improving technique, moving from strumming with fingers to using a plectrum, developing a sense of rhythm or training your ear for music, it’s an ideal workshop for anyone who has been learning either on their own or with a teacher, but finds a jam session with lots of highly skilled players a little daunting.
The emphasis is on a relaxed, and fun Saturday morning session, with plenty of takeaways to help you along your musical journey.
