Ready for the next step? Our Sewing Workshop Series gives young makers the opportunity to build their sewing skills while completing fun, functional projects they can be proud of!
During this 4-week series, students will complete two sewing projects:
🧵 Stacked Up Patchwork Pillow
Students will explore patchwork and quilting techniques while creating a colorful striped pillow.
👕 Upcycled Tee
Students will transform a T-shirt into a one-of-a-kind wearable project while learning introductory garment construction techniques. Project options allow students to create a style that works for them.
Along the way, students will practice and learn skills including patchwork, straight and even seams, pressing, quilting, envelope pillow construction, zig-zag seam finishing, pocket construction, interfacing, hemming, and working with knit fabrics.
Sewing Machines & Supplies
Joyful Art Center provides sewing machines and shared sewing tools for every class.
Students will need to purchase/provide the required fabric and garment materials for their projects. A supply list will be provided before the series begins so families know exactly what to purchase.
Sewing 101 Required
Students must have completed Sewing 101: Beginner Sewing Workshop before enrolling in this series. Sewing 101 teaches the foundational machine skills students need so that our 4-week workshops can focus on building new techniques and completing projects.
