Curious about knitting but not sure where to start? Join us for a fun, relaxed 3-class beginner knitting series designed to take you from the very basics to creating three useful projects you’ll be proud to make and use!Each class is 2 hours long and meets once a week. We’ll build your skills step-by-step, so by the end of the series you’ll have a solid foundation in knitting and three finished—or well-underway—projects.Class 1: Wash Cloth — Knitting BasicsPerfect for the absolute beginner! We’ll start from the beginning and learn the essential skills every knitter needs:
- Casting on
- Knit stitch
- Increasing
- Decreasing
- Binding off
You’ll use soft cotton yarn to create a simple, practical wash cloth while getting comfortable with your needles and yarn. Class 2: Fingerless Mitts — Taking It FurtherReady to add a few new skills? In this class, we’ll build on what you learned and introduce:
- Purl stitch
- Combining knit and purl stitches
- Seaming
You’ll work with cozy acrylic yarn to create a pair of stylish fingerless mitts. Class 3: Beanie — Knitting in the RoundPut your new skills to work on a classic beanie! We’ll learn:
- Knitting in the round
- Working with circular needles
- The basics of ribbing
- Tips for continuing to build confidence as a knitter
