About this Event
You’ll start with the basics of knitting and work your way toward creating your own little black cat, complete with colorful stitched details.
This class is designed to help you get comfortable with the how and why behind knitting, including what to do when you drop a stitch (because it happens!), how to follow a pattern, and how to add a design to your work with duplicate stitch.
You’ll learn:
- Thumb cast-on
- Stockinette/knit and purl stitches
- Right side vs. wrong side
- Understanding gauge
- Picking up a dropped stitch
- Reading a pattern and color chart
- Duplicate stitch
- Binding off
- Blocking
By the end, you’ll have your own knitted patch to take home and a bunch of new skills under your belt. Hang it up, sew it onto a bag or garment, or use what you learned to start dreaming up your next project.
You’ll also learn how duplicate stitch can be used beyond this project to add designs to existing knits or mend worn areas.
No previous knitting experience needed. All materials included!
