Beginner DJ Workshop with nextdimensional [January 2026]

A 2-part beginner DJ workshop for anyone who loves music and wants to learn how to DJ in an easy, low-pressure, hands-on environment.
About this Event

This two-part Beginner DJ workshop will be held on 1/14 and 1/21. Each session will cover different material (outlined below), and you're welome to attend either or both. A laptop and any type of headphones are required; no other gear is necessary.

No experience necessary, beginners encouraged! If you are a brand new beginner, make sure to attend both workshops (not just Workshop 2) as the material will build on itself from Workshop 1.

The Beginner DJ workshop on 1/14 will cover:

-Gear orientation (we will use Rekordbox and a Pioneer XDJ as our hands-on example)

-Rekordbox 101 (why do DJs use it & how can I easily set it up?)

-Hot cues

-Beatmatching basics

-Simple transitions

The Beginner DJ workshop on 1/21 will cover:

-Rekordbox workflows: music organization, prepping a set, beat grid adjustment

-Intermediate transitions

-How to play b2b (back to back) with another DJ

-Performance etiquette

This will be a small, intimate class with the opportunity for hands-on practice with professional equipment and some 1x1 feedback from nextdimensional. It will be a very low-pressure, judgment-free environment for anyone who feels a bit intimidated or nervous learning a new skill. All are welcome! :)
