Join us at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church for Ludwig van Beethoven's 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘢 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘯𝘪𝘴 on May 2, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. This unforgettable evening of beautiful music by Wesley Monumental's Chancel Choir with a full orchestra will be a celebration of our historic sanctuary's completed restoration. On July 21, 2025, a portion of our sanctuary ceiling collapsed. This rendered our sanctuary unusable for many months. We faithfully anticipate the completed restoration in the spring of 2026, at which point we will celebrate with this monumental work.
Experience the grandeur and power of Beethoven's masterpiece in person, surrounded by the historic walls of our church. This is a rare opportunity to witness a live performance of one of Beethoven's greatest works.
Beethoven composed the 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘢 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘯𝘪𝘴 simultaneously with his 𝘕𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘩 𝘚𝘺𝘮𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘺, and they premiered within a month of each other. The 𝘕𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘩 𝘚𝘺𝘮𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘺 is often viewed as a hymn to humanity while the 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘢 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘯𝘪𝘴 is seen as a hymn to God. 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘢 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘯𝘪𝘴 is a clear statement of the faith which sustains us all.
