The much-anticipated annual Beech Historic Cemetery tour is fast approaching. Join us on Saturday, October the 10th, from 4pm until 8pm. This year you will meet some of the original settlers of Shackle Island. William Montgomer and John McMurtry both came to the "Southwest" compliments of land grants. Amanda Matherly Honeycutt likely traces her roots back to John Sevier, but she is also part of a Davidson County court case which lead to many "Slayer Statue" laws. Harold Ketring traces his roots back to Francis Ketring, who donated land for both Beech Church and the historic cemetery. And Hugh Emma Ketring Latimer, along with her mother Harriet Kirkpatrick Ketring, will tell the story of Col. Jonathan Latimer's contributions to our fight for independence. Save the date, y'all.
