Explore another way to change, choose, and grow—without turning yourself into another thing to fight.
About this Event

How do you grow without turning yourself into another thing to fight?

Becoming Without Brutality is a two-hour experiential workshop with Dr. Sica Leigh for people who want to examine not only what they are trying to change, but the relationship through which that change is happening.

We are often taught to meet difficulty with more force: more pressure, more correction, more self-override.

Becoming Without Brutality asks a different question:

What governs the way you become?

This is not a workshop about avoiding difficult things. Discipline can matter. Responsibility can matter. Commitment can matter.

The question is whether growth requires treating some part of yourself as an enemy, obstacle, defect, or problem to conquer.

And if it doesn’t—what takes its place?

One real question. A different way of approaching it.

You’ll bring one live question from your own life into the workshop: something you are deciding, changing, continuing, creating, or trying to understand.

You do not need to arrive knowing the answer.

Using The AXIS Method™, we’ll examine that question through four relational lenses: how you are expressing and interpreting the situation, what your actual capacity and circumstances contribute, what you are experiencing internally, and what your choices may continue or bring into being.

The purpose is not to have the framework decide for you.

It is to help you notice what deserves consideration, what may have acquired more authority than it should, and what response you are actually prepared to stand behind.

Something can matter without automatically deciding the outcome.

That distinction sits at the heart of this work.

There is no required breakthrough.

You may discover that something needs to change.

You may discover that you still genuinely choose the path you are already on.

You may need different terms, more support, more information—or simply more time.

“I don’t know yet” is allowed to be an authored position.

The measure of the workshop is not whether you make the most dramatic choice.

It is whether you leave with greater participation in the choice itself.

What you’ll take with you

Rather than a generic goal-setting plan, you’ll leave with a written record of how your thinking developed: what you assumed at the beginning, what became relevant, what you currently choose or still need to understand, and what might cause you to revisit that decision later.

The goal is not certainty.

It is a more deliberate form of self-governance—one that can remain responsive as you, your circumstances, and the information available to you change.

Who this is for

Becoming Without Brutality is for people navigating a meaningful question of change, responsibility, identity, commitment, or direction.

It may resonate especially strongly if you are very good at carrying responsibility, meeting expectations, or pushing through—and have begun to wonder whether force has quietly become your default method of becoming.

You do not need to identify as a trauma survivor, be in crisis, or believe that your current life is secretly wrong.

You do not owe this room your story.

Much of the workshop can be completed privately through reflection and writing. Personal sharing is optional, and you are encouraged to work with a question that feels useful and manageable rather than choosing the most painful experience in your life.

No previous experience with AXIS, meditation, somatic work, or personal-development workshops is required.

Becoming Without Brutality is an educational and experiential workshop. It is not psychotherapy, medical treatment, or crisis care.

Human beings do not become through conquest. Human beings become through relationship.

This workshop is an opportunity to find out what that might mean in your own life.
*The workshop is intentionally responsive to the room, so exact timing shown in the agenda may shift slightly.
