Honouring Grandfather Rick — A Day of Giving Back
If you knew Rick, you knew just how much he loved our community and how much of himself he gave to it.
Rick was a man with an enormous heart. The kind of man who didn’t just talk about caring for people, he showed it in everything he did.
He was the one checking in on you, showing up early, staying late, helping set up, helping tear down, or simply being there when someone needed an ear, a little encouragement, or someone to lean on.
He gave so freely of his time, his energy, and his heart, often without being asked and never expecting anything in return.
And the beautiful thing about Rick is that he is still sprinkled throughout every room of our building. His presence, his love, and the impact he made are woven into the very fabric of our community.
But his absence is large. So incredibly large.
He is deeply loved, deeply missed, and there are moments when you can still feel the space where he should be.
December 20th would have been Grandfather Rick’s birthday. And what better way to honour a man who gave so much of himself than to spend that day giving to others?
On Sunday, December 20th, we will be coming together to support individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.
We are still working out the details, whether that means preparing meals, putting together essential care packages, or a combination of both. We will also be looking for opportunities for others to contribute through donations, supplies, and volunteering.
For now, we’re asking you to SAVE THE DATE!

There may also be a separate day leading up to December 20th when we come together to prepare and assemble everything.
More details will follow as our plans come together.
Rick spent so much of his life showing up for others. Now we have an opportunity to show up for others in his honour.
Because the greatest way we can honour the heart of a man like Rick is to keep that heart giving.
We miss you, Grandfather Rick. More than words can express. And your love continues to live on through this community. 💜💜💜
