The Third Seal
"And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine." ~Revelation 6:5-6
The Lamb opens the next seal and a black horse rides out. The rider is not swinging a sword this time. He is holding scales. A day’s wage buys one measure of wheat, or three of barley. The oil and the wine are told not to be hurt.
That is scarcity with a voice. Bread measured out. Luxury left standing. Darkness over the land, and the Word getting thin.
We are going to sit with this one. Not to speculate the headlines, but to hear what the Spirit is saying when the food of the soul is rationed and the balances are in another man’s hand.
