In November, beavers at Pleasant Valley enter one of their most active phases of the year, stockpiling food and maintaining their ponds in a race against winter. On this evening walk, you'll head to the areas of the sanctuary with the highest beaver activity, scanning for movement and learning to read the signs that reveal where beavers are living. While wild beaver sightings are likely but never guaranteed, you will leave knowing how to interpret the landscape around you: from chewed stumps and scent posts to canals and dams that have shaped Pleasant Valley for decades. Your naturalist will also share the remarkable history of beaver conservation and reintroduction in Massachusetts.
