7:00 PM — The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra: Beatles to Bourbon Street
On September 16, 1964, the Beatles rolled into New Orleans on their first American tour — and the city gave them a welcome unlike anywhere else. While other American crowds screamed, New Orleans danced, turning one wild night into legend in both Beatles history and Crescent City lore. The Fab Four never came back. So The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra — born and raised in the heart of the Louisiana Delta — is bringing New Orleans to them. Beatles to Bourbon Street reimagines the band's most beloved hits through a horn-driven, second-line big band sound: fiery, soulful, and unmistakably Southern. It's the homecoming that never happened... until now.
Before the music, don't miss "Backstage with the Beatles: A Pre-Show Conversation" at 6:15 PM — three people who lived, built, and are still living the Beatles story, sitting down for an exclusive conversation you won't hear anywhere else.
Richard Courtney, Nashville's own "Beatles guy," has spent decades building one of the largest private Beatles collections in the world — over 5,000 items strong, from rare vinyl and autographs to actual locks of the band's hair. Founder of the Nashville Beatles Festival and co-author of Come Together: The Business Wisdom of The Beatles, Richard doesn't just know Beatles history — he's built a museum around it.
Nancy Lee Andrews was there. Engaged to Ringo Starr for six years at the height of the 1970s, she photographed Ringo, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and more from the inside — and even co-wrote the lyrics to one of Ringo's songs. Those stories and her stunning photography are captured in her new book, A Dose of Rock 'n' Roll.
Bill Lloyd, moderator, is a Nashville-based, Grammy-nominated songwriter and musician best known as half of Foster and Lloyd, whose 1987 debut single "Crazy Over You" became the first by a country duo to top the Radio & Records chart. His career since spans session work with Ringo Starr and Ray Davies, songwriting cuts recorded by Trisha Yearwood and Hootie and the Blowfish, and two decades as Stringed Instrument Curator at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
With three people this connected to the Beatles' real story in one room, expect this conversation to go places a typical panel never could.
Then, once the stories are told, The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra takes it from there — reimagining the Beatles' greatest hits through a horn-driven, fiery New Orleans sound you've never heard them in before.
