About this Event
Join us for an introduction to Temple Bar Gallery + Studios including an informal conversation-based tour of the exhibition Nostalgism by artist Rebecca Moccia. The tour will conclude with an introduction to the photograph display created through a Bealtaine workshop with Éireann and I. This event is suitable for all who are new to or curious about contemporary art and Temple Bar Gallery + Studios.
Rebecca Moccia’s new multidisciplinary project Nostalgism draws from personal experience of her own familial and geographic background in the city of Naples and the economic and class divide that exists between the north and south of Italy. Moccia investigates the construction of cultural identity as defined by social and political contexts locally and nationally.
Temple Bar Gallery + Studios is an artists’ studio complex and contemporary art gallery in Dublin City Centre. The Gallery presents five exhibitions annually of work by Irish and international artists. Artists are supported through affordable studio space and professional development opportunities. We programme free events and learning opportunities throughout the year including talks, tours, screenings and workshops. We produce Dublin Art Book Fair annually as a platform for artist books and independent publishers with an expansive events programme.
Event location Information: This event takes place in our ground-floor, street-facing Gallery with floor-based installation art, moving image and sound. The tour will conclude on second floor, accessible by lift. This is a standing event, seating provided upon request. For further accessibility information please contact Learning + Public Engagement Curator Órla Goodwin.
