A guided walking tour of Temple Bar as part of the Bealtaine Festival
About this Event

The Irish Architecture Foundation is proud to offer a unique guided walking tour on the past and present of Temple Bar, led by Michael McDermott, as part of the Bealtaine Festival — Ireland’s national celebration of the arts and creativity as we age, presented by Age and Opportunity. Places are limited, so reserve yours today!

Meeting point: Outside the Project Arts Centre, East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2

Duration: Approximately 1 hour

Cost: Free

Accessibility:

This tour will feature a wireless audio system, allowing you to hear the guide clearly through individual earpieces. Volunteers will be on hand to assist in setting these up before the tour begins. Please arrive a few minutes early for this.

The tour will involve walking on uneven surfaces, which may include cobblestones and brick pavements. Temple Bar is a busy and potentially noisy area with foot traffic which may cause difficulties with navigation. This tour will follow a relaxed pace and there will be opportunities for rest breaks.

When booking your place, please let us know if you have any accessibility requirements so that we can help ensure you can participate comfortably.

About the Tour Guide:

Michael McDermott is the director of the Liberties Festival. Michael is a Board member of the Fringe Festival, works with music website Nialler9 and curates events for Irish Design Week, among others. He was previously editor of Totally Dublin and publisher of Le Cool Dublin, where he developed a series of unique walking tours — the Le Cool Experience. A selection of his projects can be viewed at neighbrhd.com.

About the Irish Architecture Foundation:

The IAF is an independent organisation that connects people with architecture through festivals like Open House Dublin, exhibitions, placemaking and learning initiatives. Working island-wide, we bring people together to experience, explore and discuss the ways architecture shapes lives, individually and as communities, as a culture and as a nation. iaf.ie
