Beachfront Belly Dance Frolic 2026

The Beachfront Belly Dance Frolic (BBDF) is a mini-workshop and maxi-dance party held in Nags Head, NC, offering a fun and relaxing day of music and dance to bring the belly dance community together, providing an environment of companionship, shared interests, exploration, innovation, and inspiration. BBDF is hosted by Chelydra, a student of middle eastern dance since 1978. Chelydra specializes in folk dances of North Africa and the Middle East, along with modern folkloric fusion adaptations, including a tap-dancing melaya leff, a hip-hop khaleegy, and a techno ghawazee. She considers dancing to be serious fun.

For the BBDF 2026 mini-workshop, Chelydra will be presenting Folkloric Fusion - a rollicking, high-energy mash-up of Afro-Brazilian samba, Persian Bandari, Russian Romany, and more, set to a toe-tappingly irresistible interpretation of Feliz Navidad, just in time for the upcoming holiday season! Get in touch with your inner mischief maker, let your hair down, and get ready to have fun.

Bring a full skirt, because floofing, flicking, flourishing and flouncing will be involved!

For the afternon maxi-dance party, the stars are out at the beach, and the stars are YOU! The afternoon dance party is a great time to try out your latest & greatest costume and choreography. Have you always wanted to try something just a little bit different - but never had the right setting? This is it! Be experimental ... be daring ... be playful!

Time limit is seven minutes (but remember, less is sometimes more). You MUST register for the event to qualify for a place in the dance party. A group or members of a group may dance more than once.
