Join with Professor Caroline Taylor for a call to action, demanding a Royal Commission into Intrafamilial Child Sexual Abuse. Australia has the opportunity to again lead the word in committing to a rigorous enquiry into the needs of children who experience sexual abuse from someone they see as a family member.
The event includes a public walk to Parliament House from 5.45 pm on November 25, 2026. There Caroline and other local and international speakers will remind everyone present of the motivation behind the event, the reason for a call to action and importance of a bipartisan support for a Royal Commission.
Intrafamilial Child Sexual Abuse is one of the last unspoken breaches of human rights. This is despite the consistent qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis identifying that most acts of child sexual abuse occur within the family.
There is a perplexing absence of identification at State and Federal government levels of the specific needs - including therapeutic and criminal justice processes - of victims/survivors of Intrafamilial Child Sexual Abuse. Australia has a recognised the differences in services and supports needed for people experiencing coercive control, domestic and family abuse compared to people experiencing abuse and violence from friends, acquaintances or strangers. Specialist domestic and family violence services have been developed and funded over the past 40 years across Australia. It is time for Australia to ensure that victim/survivors of Child Sexual Abuse are also receiving specialist responses that are based on a wide-ranging enquiry, with the resourcing allowed by a Royal Commission.
