Delivered in partnership with the Local Government Association and Bracknell Forest Council, this event is an opportunity to discover what it is really like to be a councillor and how you can make a difference in your local community.

Whether you are considering standing in the 2027 local elections, have an interest in local democracy, or simply want to learn more about the role, this session will provide valuable insight into life as a councillor in Bracknell Forest.

You will hear from senior council officers about how the council operates, the services it provides, and the key issues facing the borough. You'll also have the opportunity to put your questions directly to a panel of current Bracknell Forest councillors, who will share their experiences of campaigning, being elected and representing local residents.

The session will also guide you through the election process, explaining what to expect if you decide to stand as a candidate and, ultimately, what happens if you are elected.

By the end of the evening, you will have a clear understanding of:

• What councillors do and the impact they have on their communities
• How Bracknell Forest Council works
• The process of standing for election
• The support available to councillors
• Whether becoming a councillor could be right for you

We welcome people from all backgrounds and walks of life. You do not need previous political experience to attend.
