About this Event
Bay Health Walk at Colorado Lagoon
When: Saturday, December 12, 2026 at 10am
Where: Colorado Lagoon, 5119 E. Colorado St., Long Beach, CA 90803
ALL AGES WELCOME!
Join Algalita for a Clean Bay Collective Bay Health Walk at Colorado Lagoon to explore the history, ecology, and future of this unique part of the larger Alamitos Bay system.
Together, we’ll walk around the Lagoon and learn about its history as part of the larger Los Cerritos wetlands and Alamitos Bay estuary system.
We’ll also talk about ongoing and upcoming restoration efforts, including the Colorado Lagoon Open Channel Project, which is restoring a more natural tidal connection between the Lagoon and Marine Stadium. The project is designed to improve tidal circulation, water quality, habitat, and the movement of aquatic species between Colorado Lagoon and Alamitos Bay.
Along the way, Clean Bay Collective water quality testers who regularly sample at Colorado Lagoon will be invited to chime in and share some of their experiences and observations from spending time at the Lagoon each week.
Come ready to walk, observe, ask questions, and learn more about how Colorado Lagoon fits into the larger story of Alamitos Bay!
