All are invited to join veterans, serving members of the RAF from RAF Spadeadam, and the Cathedral Community in commemorating the Battle of Britain (1940). In that battle, the pilots of the fledgling RAF Fighter Command fought bravely and tenaciously, eventually causing Hitler to postpone and then cancel his plans to invade the United Kingdom. The service will be led by the choir and clergy of Carlisle Cathedral. Refreshments will be served after the service in the Border Regimental Chapel. All are welcome and entry is free.
