About this Event
Celebrate the start of the fall season with the National Park Service, Santa Monica Mountains Fund Field Institute, and bat conservation organizations to celebrate all things bats.
Bats are one of the smallest, fastest, and most diverse mammals in the world. From pollinating our favorite foods to dispersing seeds, these powerful and tiny animals play a huge role in our shared ecosystems. Of the twenty-five species found in California, at least 11 species have been detected in the Santa Monica Mountains.
Join us on Saturday, October 10 from 6pm to 8:30pm at Peter Strauss Ranch to learn about bats through presentations, film, and informational booths by bat conservation organizations. Bat experts will showcase the unique quality of bats and how researchers safely study these animals. Shortly after, award-winning short film "Bat Boy" will highlight how a single person's actions can have a huge role on conservation efforts. The film's director and science advisor will provide time for a Q&A where visitors can find more ways to support bat and ecosystem health.
Event, parking, and admission are free.

Peter Strauss Ranch is located at 30000 Mulholland Hwy, Agoura Hills, CA 91301.
Limited seating is available; guests are invited to bring their own chair or blanket to sit on. Headlamps and flashlights are strongly recommended.
